“Départs… entanglements” (“Departures… Unleashes”) is a concert series with a total of 8 concerts (4 double concerts) within the framework of the ensemble friendship between two Hanoverian ensembles and two Canadian ensembles from Montréal. The Flex Ensemble and Ensemble ur.werk, the string quartet Bozzini and the saxophone quartet Quasar will present with two premieres each of German and Canadian composers a collaboration that has been developed over several years between these German (Lower Saxony) and Canadian musicians and is already supported by several Canadian sponsors and ministries of culture. The project is a further development of the cultural exchange between Germany and Canada initiated by the Frankfurt Book Fair 2020/21. The first part of the project, fully funded by the Canadian side, is to present the four ensembles and their programs in Montreal (Le Vivier-Gesù church hall, WILDER Halls) and in Ottawa in April 12-19, 2022. The fees and travel expenses for ur.werk and Flex Ensemble for this Canadian premiere will be covered by the Canadian New Music Association “Groupe le Vivier” and the Goethe-Institut in Montreal. With this application, we are applying for the second part of this international exchange, where the four ensembles will present their programs, consisting of a total of 8 world premieres, in Hannover (Sprengel Museum/Kleiner Sendesaal of the NDR) and Delmenhorst (Turbinenhalle of the Nordwestdeutsches Museum für IndustrieKultur).
