Ensemble Tesse -diminutive of the Latin word “Tesserae” representing the individuality of each piece of a mosaic whose absolute meaning only appears in the final work- is a variable geometry ensemble that brings together six recognized musicians of the Montreal music scene.
Sensitive to the various processes of collective creation inherent to other artistic disciplines, Ensemble Tesse brings together eclectic personalities around collaborative research whose common interests mix between improvisation, composition, and creation in a broad and conceptual sense, with the objective of co-creating original musical works.
The versatility of the musical competencies of each member of this ensemble (contemporary and classical music, free improvisation, composition, audiovisual production), allows Ensemble Tesse to develop rich and innovative projects in connection with the stakes of its contemporaneity.
By associating itself with the know-how of artists coming from different artistic fields, the Ensemble brings a new vision to the musical creation world and addresses itself to a vast public.
